In a bizarre incident, a newly-wed man named Azharuddin Rasheed (30) fled from his bride's house after stealing gold ornaments and money from the house. According to the Kerala Police, Azharuddin got married on January 30. After spending his first night at the bride's house, he absconded with 30 sovereign gold and Rs 2.75 lakh. Reportedly, before leaving he told the bride and her family that his friend got involved in an accident and left the house at around 3 a.m.

Later, when the bride's family tried to reach him, his phone was switched off. Also, they realised that 30 sovereigns gold and Rs 2.75 lakh have also gone missing from the house. Following this, they lodged a police complaint against him. On investigation, the Police found that Azharuddin had married a young woman from Alappuzha two years ago. On tracing the location, the police found him in the house of his first wife. He was immediately arrested and presented before the court.
