A youngster identified as Babu was strangled and buried alive by his brother and mother. The incident happened on last Saturday when Sabu, the key accused arrived home drunk and attacked his brother Babu following a dispute. During investigation Sabu confessed to the police that he had strangled his brother Babu to death. He also revealed that he buried the body in an empty field 300 meters away from his house along with the help of his mother. After the gruesome act, Sabu and his mother lodged a police complaint stating that Babu had gone missing. Several days later Babu's body was recovered after a neighbour, who came to graze the cow, became suspicious after seeing soil removed in a part of the field near Babu's house. Soon, the local dug the soil and found the body. The police also reached the area and examined the body and identified the deceased as Babu. Reportedly, it was the tattoo on Babu's hand that became crucial in identifying his body.

The police became suspicious after seeing a broken TV in the brothers' house. Later, during the investigation Sabu confessed to the police. Only after the post mortem report arrived, it was learned that Babu was buried alive in the soil. The post mortem report revealed that soil was found in Babu's lungs. The post mortem report also stated that the deceased had sustained a head injury. During the investigation, the police had also found that the brothers used to constantly quarrel with each other. The brutal murder has sent shock waves across Kerala.
