TDP chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has hailed the Narendra Modi government's economic relief package announced by Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday.  

"The Rs.1,75,000 Cr relief announced by Modi ji’s government is a landmark package and a much-needed antidote to a bleak situation. Truly hope the nation tides through these times faster and emerges stronger than before," Naidu said.  

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, he said, "People are benevolently following the national lockdown by staying at homes... Efforts to ensure that no Indian goes to bed on an empty stomach is clear proof that your government is humanity personified.  Roughly two-thirds (about 80 crore people) of India's population will benefit from the increased outgo under Ann Yojana."
