It came as a shock for the family and neighbors of a young Kerala woman named Sajitha, who thought to be missing for over 10 years, suddenly appeared. The woman, who was 18-years-old then, had not been seen since February 2, 2010. She was apparently hiding inside the room of her neighbor Rahmaan, whom she secretly married 10 years ago. The young man hid her in his room without the knowledge of his parents and sister, who lived in the same house.

One day, Sajitha left her house and came to Rahman's house. Since then she had been living in Rahman's room without anyone's knowledge. To maintain the secrecy, Rahman used a special lock for the room whenever he went out. He also set up his room's window panes in an interesting way so as to easily go out and get food for Sajitha without the family's knowledge. Rahman's parents and sister say that they did not know that the woman lived in the room that doesn't even have a toilet. Sajitha used to get out of the room this way. Although 10 years back Rahman was questioned by the police after Sajitha's relatives complained that she went missing, they did not receive any clue about her.

The incident came to light after Rahman left home this March after informing his family that he got a new job. He secretly took Sajitha also with him and the couple started living in another district. After his relatives did not know the whereabouts of Rahman ever since he left home, they filed a complaint to the police. However, the police were unable to locate him. During the lockdown, Rahman's brother accidentally met him on road. Following this, the police were informed and Rahman was taken into custody. Soon, Sajitha was also found. While the duo was produced to the court, Sajitha said that she wanted to live with Rahman. Considering Sajitha's words, the court released both of them.
