Young mother accidentally kills her 4-year-old son and sister with poisoned ice cream

In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old Kerala woman named Varsha has been arrested for accidently poisoning her son and sister. Reportedly, the woman, a Kasaragod native, mixed rat poison in ice cream to take her own life.

However, the ice cream was accidently consumed by her five-year-old son and 19-year-old sister. As per reports, Varsha consumed a portion of the poisoned icecream and left it out in the open, which was later consumed by her son Adwaith and sister Drishya.

Soon that night, her son started vomiting and after his condition worsened, the boy was taken to the hospital. Next morning, the child passed away. Meanwhile, her sister Drishya too fell ill and breather her last on February 24 after a week long battle for her life. The family thought Adwaith and Drishya became ill after consuming the biryani.

Meanwhile, Varsha did not experience any illness from consuming the poisoned ice-cream, she remained tight lipped about revealing her suicide attempt even after her son's death. Following the two deaths, Varsha was arrested by the police. The police registered the case on February 17, based on the complaint from Varsha's relative, Sanod. Police is yet to find why Varsha decided to commit suicide.

Varsha has been booked under section 304 and 305 of the Indian Penal Code, said the police.
