'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' will hit the screens on a grand scale on January 12. Much ahead of its release, the film's distributors and makers are letting the audience know something very important.
What is that? That the Allu Arjun film won't be available on either Amazon or Netflix! This means your hopes to watch the family entertainer in the comfort of your home within a few weeks of its theatrical release are now doomed.
"A poster of the film highlights that the Trivikram Srinivas-directed entertainer won't be there on the streaming platforms. This is meant to pull the audience to the theatres. That way, the film is expected to collect money to its fullest potential both in domestic and overseas markets. 'Sye Raa' and 'Saaho' have earned less than their potential in the US because of the Amazon- and Netflix-loving crowds. Steps will now be taken by producers to end the party. They would want to maximize their theatrical revenues. What they get from digital rights doesn't exactly offset the revenue shortfalls from theatrical sources," a source says.
Geetha Arts is said to be launching a digital platform of its own. Perhaps, 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' will stream there much later after the film's release.
