Amala Paul last year had allegedly bought a luxury car priced above Rs. 1 C and registered it in Pondicherry by using a fabricated address in order to evade taxes to the tune of around Rs. 20 lakhs. The Kerala crime branch had summoned her on December 19, but she failed to appear due to prior commitments.

An FIR was filed and Amala Paul had sought anticipatory bail from the Kerala High Court during the hearing of which the judge ordered her to appear in person at the Trivandrum crime branch office between 10 am and 1 pm on January 15.

The judge had also stated that Amala's bail application will be considered after 10 days making it imperative that she appears without fail.
