The Hon'ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh has in its order permitted the exhibitors from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to charge increased ticket prices. The Sankranthi releases will be the first ones to get affected by this order.

Many theatre owners had moved the court, seeking the permission in view of the massive investments they make on big-ticket movies like 'Agnyaathavaasi'. After duly considering their arguments, the HC has said that ticket prices can be hiked in the absence of any government decision on the matter.

This is contingent upon the exhibitors submitting in advance to the concerned authorities how much they want to charge on the tickets. However, no prior permission is required from any authority for hiking the prices.

The proceeds from the hiked prices needn't be shown under a separate head in the account books.
