Yogi Babu who started his career as an extra was first noticed in the film 'Yaamirukka Bayamen' in which he actually was body-shamed as characters called him "Panni Moonju Vaaya". Five years later the chubby actor is the most wanted comedy hero in Tamil cinema.

Minister Kadambu Raju presided over the audio release function of 'Pei Mama' starring Yogi Babu in the lead and directed by Shakti Chidambaram. Speaking at the occasion Yogi Babu denied reports that he is charging exorbitant rates and collects his payments in advance.

Yogi Babu stated that on the contrary he actually helps people out and recently he accepted a film by a female debutante director without any remuneration. The reason is that the girl told Yogi Babu that she has limited budget and only if he accepted to act for a small salary she can get married.

To help out the girl to get married Yogi Babu said that he gave her his dates for free. He further added that 'Pei Mama' was originally written for Vadivelu and he hesitated to fill in the shoes of the legend but later when the director narrated the script he loved it and acted with a lot of confidence. The film is expected to release soon.
