Yogi Babu started his career as an extra in films like 'Ghilli' and acted in several films without being able to establish himself on screen. 'Yaamirukka Bayame' directed by Deekay was the turning point in his career as his character "Panni Moonju Vaayaa" though had only a few minutes screentime won audience attention for the laugh out loud situational comedy.
Yogi Babu then went on to graduate to the most sought after comedian shining in films such as 'Kaaka Muttai', 'Remo', 'Aandavan Kattalai', 'Mersal', 'Kalakalappu 2' and others. He is now playing the hero in close to a dozen movies including 'Ghurka', 'Cocktail', 'Dharmaprabhu', 'Zombie', 'Pannikutty' and others. He is also part of two biggies under production Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Darbar' and 'Thalapathy 63'.
As of now Yogi Babu is flying from state to state and country to country to shoot his portions without any gaps and just his immediate schedule will make your heads spin. Right now he is in Cappadocia, Turkey shooting for the untitled Sundar C-Vishal project and from there is flying straight to Mumbai to join 'Darbar' and after a couple of days from that again flies abroad for a song shoot for 'Dharmaprabhu'. In the meantime, Santhanam is flying to Mumbai to get Yogi Babu for a couple of days in his new film as well.
According to industry sources Yogi Babu has to dub for close to twenty-five films and he is unable to allot dates to all of them. Even when he does give a call sheet for dubbing he is able to work only a few hours and dash to either the next studio of a new shooting spot. On top of this each day atleast ten new projects are lining up for him and Yogi Babu does not easily say no and accepts projects with a huge sum as his daily remuneration.
Any Yogi Babu fan will be pleased to know that the humble star is now a busy bee and is also growing in stature day by day to match the top stars. However industry analysts are also of the opinion that he should balance his commitments in a more organized manner and facilitate smooth finishing of all the films he is involved in.
