Lucknow witnessed violent vandalism on Thursday evening in the name of anti-CAA protests. Soon after the arson, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that those involved in violence have been identified through video and CTV footage. He said that the miscreants will be made to pay. “We will avenge the loss of government property by confiscating the property of the miscreants,” the BJP CM said.
Many are welcoming this strong response to the vandalism. “Protests have to be peaceful. If mobs go on a rampage in their attempt to strong-arm the government, severe action will have to be taken,” a commentator says.
It has been misreported that Yogi said that his government will take revenge on the protesters. The fact is, he didn’t use the word revenge in his address.
