Actress Nayanthara, who began her career acting with Superstar Rajnikanth in Chandramukhi, has now reached heights and has been referred to as Lady Superstar. The actress now stars in solo heroine movies, which take huge openings matching the openings of top male actors.

Nayanthara had begun the year with the blockbuster Thala Ajith starrer Viswasam, and is currently a part of big budget movies like Superstar Rajnikanth starrer Darbar directed by AR Murugadoss, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy with Chiranjeevi and Vijay starrer Bigil.

In a recent interview, national award winning yesteryear actress Seema has revealed that she was the one who had named her Nayanthara. She revealed that, when Nayanthara entered films with the Malayalam movie Manasinakkare, director Sathyan did not want to use her real name Diana, and hence was looking for a name when she suggested the name Nayanthara, meaning a big star and as per her name she has now become a big star, said Seema.
