Jayakumari is a multi-lingual actress who was active in the Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi film industries between 1965 and 1982. An estimate puts her number of films at 200, while others say that she must have acted in more than 300 films if small roles are taken into consideration.
The news is that Jayakumari, who is in her early 70s, has been suffering from a kidney-related ailment needing dialysis. Since dialysis is highly expensive and she is hard-pressed for money, the veteran has been admitted to a government hospital in Chennai.
A pic of the yesteryear actress sitting on a bed in the general ward has surfaced on the Internet. Reports say that she has been living with her son Roshan. Her husband Nagapattinam Abdullah died many years ago.
'Bala Mitrula Katha', 'Sampoorna Ramayanam', 'Kalyana Mandapam', and 'Rangeli Raja' are her popular Tollywood titles.
