The National Geological Department has issued a yellow alert for Tamil Nadu coastal areas for very heavy rains on November 30th and December 1st. A low pressure has formed near the Gulf of Thailand and is likely to intensify in the coming days and approach the Andaman islands bringing heavy rains in South Tamil Nadu and the coastal regions and intermittent heavy to light rains in North and the interior TN.

Only a week back the Gaja Cyclone wreaked havoc in the Delta region of TN and even after ten days life has not returned to normalcy. But in other regions and especially the Chennai zone the rainfall is below the annual expectancy. It remains to be seen if this new approaching rains will provide the much-needed water to the state or not.
