YCP sarkar receives setback from SC in Nimmagadda Ramesh issue

It's known that, most recently, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh struck down an Ordinance passed by the AP government curtailing the tenure of the State Election Commissioner from five years to three. This was meant to boot out Nimmagadda Prasad.

On Wednesday, a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice S A Bobde refused to stay the HC order. It has upheld the restoration of Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the state poll panel chief. Besides, the SC asked a response from the SEC on the reduction of tenure. It reportedly expressed shock over the Ordinance.

The order comes as a snub to the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government with the SC not cancelling the HC's suspension of the GO that appointed the retired judge V Kanagaraj as the new chief.
