Ever since media reports on Thursday claimed that KIA Motors will be moving its Anantapur plant to Tamil Nadu, leaders of the ruling YCP and the opposition TDP have been sparring. The fight reached Lok Sabha later in the day.
TDP MP Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu alleged that the YSRCP government recently asked Kia Motors to vacate their office in Millennium Towers in Vizag by March 30. He added that the $1.1 billion plant in Anantapur will be moved out of the State by Kia.
At this Midhun Reddy, the ruling party parliamentarian, said that there is no truth in the news. "I have spoken with the MD of Kia this morning. They have no plans to shift the plant. The TDP government had given away benefits worth thousands of crores to a dummy company named Franklin Templeton for an investment of Rs 30 Cr in Vizag. This is a big scam," Reddy said.
Reddy's remarks have come in for much criticism, as he not only mispronounced the name of Franklin Templeton as Franklin Templetown but also called it a dummy company.
