YCP government 'disrespects' APJ Abdul Kalam

The Andhra Pradesh government has renamed the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Pratiba Puraskar (an award conferred on best-performing students) as YS Vidya Puraskar. Its GO 76 implements the name-change.
Since Kalam is one of the greatest Indians of Independent India, the name-change has come in as a shocker. Predictably, it has led to the criticism of the YS Jaganmohan Reddy government. The BJP has termed the decision to change the name as "arrogant", adding that the former President of India has been disrespected. The TDP and the Jana Sena, too, are expected to slam the government over this.
"It's common for governments to change the names of schemes. It has happened a number of times both in the States and at the Centre. However, changing the name of a scheme which was christened after a statesmanly personality and a great scientist is beyond bad," a Facebook user comments.
Will the Jagan government reverse the GO? Wait and watch.
