'Yatra', the biopic of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy, will be made as "a tribute to the unrelenting and undying spirit" of the late Chief Minister.
Releasing a poster featuring Mammootty in YSR's avatar, director Mahi V Raghav says, "Never before in independent India did one individual change the course of history to such an extent. Dr. YSR undertook a grueling 60-day, 1500 kilometer 'pada yatra' in the unrelenting summer heat of 2003 to comprehend the day to day struggles of people. Appalled by what he saw, he took upon himself to make people's lives better by offering free power to farmers, subsidized education and health care for the needy."
About choosing the Malayalam actor, he says, "There is no better actor to play the role of YSR than National Award-winning Megastar Mammootty. With over 350 movies to his credit, he is extremely versatile and talented to pull off the role."
70mm Entertainments of 'Anando Brahma', will bankroll the project. Producers Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy have said that the movie will be shot from April 9.
