While Yami Gautam was flying high post her latest political action thriller, Article 370's success, she thanked the audience for proving naysayers wrong who calculated its minimal appeal due to the technical and political nature of the film.
Yami shared a few goosebump-provoking sentiments in a heartfelt post: "While making Article 370, a lot of doubts are thrown at us, saying it is too technical, too political. But we trusted our instincts, knowing our viewers would lap it up." Thanks for proving everyone wrong and showering our film with love. We are humbled and grateful. Dhanyawaad! Jai Hind!
The film Article 370 received a strong box office collection on its first Sunday, collecting ₹10.25 crore; ₹9.08 crore on Saturday; and ₹6.12 crore on the opening day. And with that, it's gone on to become the highest-grossing female-led film till 2024.
Yami Gautam will be seen as an intelligence officer named Zooni Haksar, based in the valley and focusing on the revocation of special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointed out the great relevance of this film during his address in Jammu not so long ago. The Prime Minister announced that a film on Article 370 is set to be released this week. It is a good thing as it will help people get the correct information."
Yami, on her part, expressed her gratitude, saying: "It is absolutely an honor to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji talk about #Article370Movie. My team and I genuinely hope that we all exceed your expectations in bringing this incredible story to the screen.``
The movie by Aditya Suhas Jambhale also features Priyamani, Arun Govil, and Kiran Karmarkar in lead roles.
