In last few years, actress Yami Gautam has focused her attention on doing strong content based films instead of typical masala entertainers and her recent releases like 'A Thursday' and 'Dasvi' are testament to that. Although Yami has worked in several iconic films since the start of her career, she believes that her true journey as an actress has started just now.
"Frankly, I feel my journey as an actor has just begun. I feel the kind of films I want to do, or I have wanted to do, slowly and steadily, have started coming my way since 2019," she said according to a report in ETimes. In order to play characters which are significant to the script, Yami doesn't shy away from taking up roles with less screen time.
She states, "It all started with Uri: The Surgical Strike, which was a massive box-office success. The film saw me pull off a character of that of an undercover agent that no one really saw me doing before. Which was also in the case of Bala, that had me playing a funny, well-written character. These projects only proved that it is never about the length of your roles, but the content. Films like these led to more such amazing opportunities come my way."
Yami concluded by saying, "A Thursday had me headlining the project, which is in case of my upcoming film, Lost, too. I have really waited for opportunities like these. So, from here on I am being extra cautious about what I pick as after all I am asking my audience to believe in what I believe and so I need to be very sure of it.”
