‘Yaman’: The Villain Of Evil Politicians

After 'Bicchagadu', the 'Salim' star Vijay Antony has come to carry a certain trustworthiness for the Telugu audience.  Putting behind the failure of 'Bethaludu', the soft-spoken actor who doesn't shy away from calling himself a bad actor is bracing up for the release of 'Yaman'.

Come Feb 24, on the auspicious Maha Shivaratri day, the film will hit the screens in Telugu and Tamil.  "Since Yama is an avatar of Lord Shiva, it's great that our political thriller is coming on the auspicious day.  Just as Yama is a villain for evil forces, my character in 'Yaman' is also a villain against those who don't follow dharma," Vijay says.

The subject touched him so much that Vijay broke into tears when director Jeeva Shankar completed the narration.  "You have to think so much to be able to write such a script.  He has thought through about the ills and that's why he could come up with the idea," the hero says.

A political thriller which throws up several ideas, 'Yaman' has other ingredients too.  "A politician has a family of his own, he has a wife, he has parents, he has children.  Our film is a complete entertainer," says Vijay's co-star Miya George, who is playing a saree-clad Anjana.

"Anjana meets the hero and seeks his help.  In the process of resolving it, he gets into a big trouble," Miya reveals.

What's more, Vijay is playing two roles!

Confident about its universal appeal, the makers claim that 'Yaman' is not nativity-driven.  "Politicians are the same everywhere.  Nothing in the thriller has anything to do with the current political situation.  Jeeva Shankar conceived the idea at least five years ago," the hero declares.

You can be assured that Miya George has an important role too.  Very soon, the Kottayam 'kutti', who has done more than two dozen Malayalam and half-a-dozen Tamil movies, will be seen in 'Ungarala Rambabu'.

It's rare that a film has music by the male lead himself, and the cinematography is by the director himself!
