Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 8 in India on Wednesday. The pocket-friendly smartphone comes as a successor to the Redmi 7, which turned out to be the best selling smartphone of the brand in the country. Redmi 8 comes with a much bigger upgrade over the Redmi 7. The phone will be equipped with 3GB RAM on the 32GB storage variant and is priced at Rs. 7999, and with 4GB RAM on the 64GB variant, which is priced at Rs. 8999. The first 5 million units of Redmi 8 with 4GB RAM would be available for Rs 7999. The smartphone is scheduled to go on sale on October 12.

Redmi 8 comes with an Aura Mirror design at the back in Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red and Onyx Black colours. The phone features a 6.2-inch dot notch HD+ display. It uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor and comes with P2i splash resistance, powered by a 2GHz octa-core processor. Like Redmi 7, there is a waterdrop notch in Redmi 8 that houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The AI selfie camera supports portrait mode and face unlock, while the phone uses 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual rear sensors with f/1.8, 1.4um pixel size, and dual PD support. Redmi 8 houses a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging and a USB Type-C port.
