Responding to the objections raised by certain members of Brahmin community regarding the pun on 'Namakam Chamakam' in the song 'Gudilo Badilo' from 'Duvvada Jagannadham', Harish Shankar gave a statement appealing to the representatives of the community to understand the context of the lyrics.

Saying that he was born in a Brahmin family and that he feels fortunate to be a Hindu, Harish said that the lyrics penned by Sahithi pertain to the surroundings in the hero's life. "Since he is a priest, he sings that way. He can't use words like non-veg, can he? The intention is not to hurt anybody's sensibilities. Would I, a Brahmin, do something that disrespects myself? Would anybody make a film with Rs. 60 Cr to offend a community? The idea is to entertain everybody, not to insult any," the director said in his style.

He further said that many Brahmins have liked the lyrics and sent him messages appreciating the content.

"We are showing a Brahmin youth as a hero, not a comedian or a villain. We will speak further on the lyrics in near future. Right now, we are shooting the movie," he said.
