The year 2017 has been a mixed one at the world wide box office as far as quality content is concerned but as usual big bucks studio fares especially of the fantasy genre have become the money spinners. According to Box Office Mojo, 'The Beauty and the Beast' is the number one film of 2017 raking in 1.26 Billion USD followed by 'The Fate of the Furious' which has brought 1.23 Billion.

'Star Wars - The Last Jedi' and 'Despicable Me' have sold tickets worth just over a billion dollars and occupy the third and fourth positions.  The others in the top ten list are 'Spiderman Homecoming' - $880.2million,  'Wolf Warrior 2' - $870.3million, 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2' - $863.7 million, 'Thor - Ragnarok' - $848.1million, 'Wonder Woman' - $821.8 million and 'Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead Men Tell No Tales'  - $749.9million.
