World famous Mysuru Dasara, elephants arrival

The prestigious world famous Mysuru Dasara festivities fever has begun. From August 12 the march of elephants starts at 11 am at Nagapura of Hunsur Taluk says the Mysuru District in charge minister Dr HC Mahadevappa.
It will be half a kilometer procession that is followed by various cultural wings and Range forest official. The tourists are also allowed to this elephant procession.
The procession of elephants also marks the beginning of Dasara festival activities. The state government has constituted various sub committees for the activities. The list of committee for nine days festival of Mysuru Dasara festival will be announced soon.
The cultural activities will be in zoom besides lighting arrangements, poet`s seminar, sports like Kusthi, Yoga, Yuva Dasara, Raitha Dasara, food festival, film festival are some of the 15 committees evolve soon. In the last years 17 committees have been set up.
The 2017 Mysuru Dasara festivities kick start on 21st of September and 30th of September is the Vijayadashami day, Golden howda with Goddess Chamundeswari statue will be carried in an elephant procession.
The procession on the final day will be five kilometers and known as Jamboo Savari`. It is five kilometers journey of procession from Mysuru Palace to Bannimantapa where banni` tree is worshipped.
The procession culminate on the Vijayadashami night with a torchlight parade that is known as Panjina Kavayaththu` in Kannada.
