On Tuesday, a 42-year-old healthcare worker in Nirmal district's Kuntala in Telangana was vaccinated for coronavirus at about 11:30 am. Three hours later, he was brought dead to the District Hospital in Nirmal. The doctors assessed that the healthcare worker had developed chest pain.
Immediately, preliminary assessment of the worker's death was made. Findings suggest that the death was unrelated to the vaccination.
A team of doctors will be conducting a post-mortem later on Wednesday. "The district Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) committee is currently examining the matter. A report will be submitted to the state AEFI committee after everything is assessed," an official statement issued by Telangana's Director of Health and Family Welfare says.
Eventually, the central AEFI committee will vet the report.
All-India scenario:
As per the Central government, as of Monday, 0.18 percent of those who received vaccination reported adverse events. Only 0.002 percent had to be hospitalized.
