Pawan Kalyan today said that he and his party won't be mute spectators if Hinduism is targeted in any manner in Andhra Pradesh. Describing himself as a Hindu, the actor-politician made it clear that he believes the YCP government is lending tacit support to the mass conversion of Hindus into Christianity.
"It has become a way of life for YCP to distort statements made by opponents. It has been propagated by YCP leaders that I have spoken against Hindu dharma and its leadership. I have not uttered a word against Hindus or the BJP. The other day, some people came to me and urged me to speak up against the efforts to resort to proselytization in Tirumala. This has been happening with the aim to convert Hindus. I am a true secularist, not a pseudo one. I will always speak the truth as a practising Hindu. I am ready to lose votes if that be the case," the Jana Sena chief said.
"I will speak strongly if Hinduism is targetted. Hindus never chant slogans like 'Jai Sri Ram' at mosques and churches. In the same way, nobody should raise slogans like 'Hail Jesus' at Hindu pilgrimage centres. Mass conversions have been taking place. I am asking, who is behind all this? Just 10 km from CM Jagan's house, 40 Hindus were recently converted at once. What is YCP government's stance on such conversions?" he asked.
