On the eve of Women's Day, Mega Bahus, Surekha and Upasana shared the delicious secrets of Mega Star Chiranjeevi, Power Star Pawan Kalyan and Mega Brother Naga Babu.
Surekha
Till Now you are known as Mega Star Chiranjeevi's wife. How do you feel coming out and starting Atthamma Kitchen.
It looks new. Till now we knew how to cook for us and for our friends. For long I had the idea to share my dishes with everyone. I and my husband Chiranjeevi go to foreign locations on vacation. For us it is not for sight seeing but living peacefully. But during that time,we couldn't stay without home food for many days. I used to take pre mixes to over come the trouble and used to cook the same. During Upasana's pregnancy when she went to Oscars, I prepared pre mixes for her.Upasana then thought of turning it into a business idea as she comes from a business family.
Do you know cooking since your childhood?
No as I was the youngest in my house. I used to help my mother in cutting vegetables etc. Only after my marriage I learned all these things. I tell you a secret. My husband is my mentor. My father in law was a foodie and my mother in law cooks well. So during his young age he used to cook. Chiranjeevi had a feeling that I should also cook like his mother. But I do not know. Once I prepared upma. Upma turned like rounds. Till that time I was under impression that upma will be prepared like that. Later my husband taught me how to prepare all dishes.
Then when did you start pre cooked food
Two months after my marriage, I and Chiranjeevi went to Paris for the shooting of his film 47 Days. There we couldn't get any food and also items to cook.It was a big lesson for me and from then on I used to prepare pre cooked food before we go to any place.
In your joint family, are all foodies?
Chiranjeevi will eat anything we serve him, even if it is pickle. Naga Babu is a foodie and likes to taste all dishes. Pawan Kalyan also is like his brother. He doesn't demand anything. Here I should tell one thing. My father in law used to eat quite well. Seeing him, others also used to love eating. My mother taught me to give others everything. I love to feed others and I derive happiness from it.
Tell us more about Chiranjeevi
Here I will tell one incident. Though he eats what ever we provide even if it is pickle,he doesn't like if salt is less. While we were in Madras, he was busy with shootings. He and Prasad babu was doing a film. When there were no vegetables, I put vadiyalu, pappu charu and gave it to him. He had them and went for shooting.
In the evening he came and told 'Prasad babu came to shooting and went away". He revealed that he had a fight in his house. Prasad Babu's wife prepared egg pulusu and when he asked for eggs, she served only two eggs. He threw the plate in the house and came to shooting.Later he asked Chiranjeevi ' what did you have' and when Chiranjeevi told about vadiyalu and pappu charu, he felt guilty and went to his house to apologise to his wife.
You have seen four generations? What changes did you notice
Earlier people are not food conscious. People used to follow what their elders told them. Now they are aware of it and are having desire to be healthy. They know how much to eat and when to stop.Though there is a complaint that youngsters are having a lot outside, current generation is better when it comes to health consciousness.
Upasana
Do You Cook
Sometimes. Before marriage I don't know cooking. I learned everything from my Atthamma.
What did you learn from your mother in law
Cooking and family values. Attamma never have till everyone in the house finish their food. Initially I was surprised by her actions. Later I understood that it was a vital cog in the joint family. She serves with lot of love and affection. She taught me how to eat in a prefect manner. I used to eat curd first before taking other items. She taught me to start with dal and other items and have curd at the end. We should learn the good things from our future generations. She knows that everyone likes in the family. Three days back Pawan Kalyan came to house. The moment she heard about it,she prepared his favourite dish biryani for him.
How to balance work-life as many women are now working professionals
Surekha
Current generation is toiling hard. But they are helpless as one cannot get all facilities unless both husband and wife works. I pity working women. But they are very intelligent balancing professional and personal life and playing with kids.
Upasana
Both house and workplace is important. One should get their priorities right accordingly. During exams, one should concentrate on children and during March, they should concentrate on profession as it year ending. Just like reviewing business goals one should review family goals or else they will face lot of problems.
