Lying to the health officials that her mom had passed away, a woman from Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, managed to cross the border and reach Vadakancherry, Kerala. The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday.

After reaching Govindapuram border, the woman requested the health workers there, to allow her to go saying that her mom passed away. When the officials contacted the health workers in Vadakancherry to enquire if it was true, they got in touch with Asha worker at the woman's area to confirm. When they were told that it was true, the woman was allowed to cross the border. She reached her home by 7.30 a.m with a relief.

However, her plan collapsed after the Asha worker rang up to the health workers in Vadakkencherry by 10 a.m and told them that the woman had lied and that her mother was not dead. After the police questioned the Asha worker she said that the woman had called her by 5 in the morning saying that she is heading to her home in Kerala as her mother died. Thinking that it was true, the Asha worker gave confirmation about the situation when the health workers from the border contacted her to cross-check.

Only after the Asha worker's husband visited the woman's house by 10 am, they found that the woman's mother was not dead. The woman had apparently travelled in a two-wheeler from Pollachi. She and the man who accompanied her has now been quarantined. Police action against her is expected!
