The rise in the number of crimes against women seems to be only increasing and hence the need for women to be always on their guard. A woman in Bengaluru has bravely escaped a kidnapping attempt by an Ola driver.
A 30 year old woman who was headed to the airport was abducted and allegedly attacked by an Ola driver that she hired. But thanks to the presence of the mind that the woman showed, she was saved by motorists who were standing near the toll plaza. She banged the windows and screamed when they passed through the toll which attracted the attention of those present around the toll.
The Ola driver was identified as Suresh who is 28 years old and a native of Andhra Pradesh. He has been arrested on the charges of outraging the modesty of a woman, kidnapping and driving under the influence of alcohol.
“She sensed something was wrong when the cab did not take the route to the airport and instead headed towards Yelahanka junction. She claimed that the driver did not slow down and was instead going at a high speed at the junction,” a police official said.
OLA officials have stated that cab drivers are not trained formally on gender sensitivity but are given online modules. However it still remains impreative for all these cab companies to see to it that they hire only formibale persons for the job.
