When Malvika Tiwari (55) was asked to remove a power bank that she was carrying in her luggage at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, she picked up an argument with the airport staff. She lost her temper and hit the power bank hard on the floor. It exploded and she was promptly arrested under IPC sections 336 (deals with endangerment of life or personal safety of others) and 285 (deals with negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible material).
The woman was taken to a police station by CISF personnel. The Delhi police slapped an FIR and arrested her. She apologized to the airport staff for the offences committed.
Although she is out on bail, the panic that she created is telling. Refusing to follow the rules and submit to the law is an offence. Nobody is an exception.
