On the Sarjapura Road the four trees were shifted after struggle gets a fresh breath again. Among so many trees uprooted in the wake of expansion of road from Dommasandra to Aththibele 200 trees were marked for clearance by the PWD department.
The Sarjapura Welfare Association (RWA) took up the issue and fought for retaining at least four trees at prominent area.
After months it is noted that on the cut off trees the branches have blossomed again. On shifting of trees the Chennai based JM Land Scape and Garden Consultants Mr B Ilango Subramanian and Vijay Nishanth expert in the field allowed three Bodhi Vruksha` and one Neem` trees. They were shifted to a safe place.
The trees shifted are now recouping and branches started spreading is the height of happiness of environmentalists. In three days the Chennai based company replanted the uprooted trees. The team of Mr Ilango suggested precise medicine for replanted trees. The residents were curiously watching the growth of these trees. It has happened at last.
For the four trees replanting Rs.3 lakhs was the expenditure. Rs.2.85 lakhs was collected via crowd funding.
This is a pure case of government giving up and people taking up and winning in retaining four trees at a safe place says Jagadish Kotturu Shettar, President of Sarjapura Residents welfare Association.
It may be recalled that two storied house of M Thangavelu in Coimbatore was shifted by 50 feet backwards in May 2013 at a cost of Rs.20 lakhs by Haryana based TDBD engineering works. That was first of its kind in the country.
