Balakrishna is known for action, commercial entertainer blockbuster films. But in early 90's, he decided to take a break from such films and did three films with Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, director of films like Michael Madana Kamaraju, Mayuri, Apoorva Sahodargal/Vichitra Sodarulu, Pushpak. Out of the three, two ended up attaining classic status now.
They are Aditya 369, Bhairawadweepam. The second film is an indirect remake of Pathalabhairavi. But Aditya 369 is a rare science fiction film attempted in Telugu Cinema.
Movie did not become a big box office success but after arriving on TV, it started ti gain more and more cult fans for the film. Mainly, due to Ilaiyaraja's great music. Sequel idea for such a film when sci-fi movies are still not a regular genre for Telugu cinema seems huge risk.
While we would love to watch the film coming out and wish it to be a huge hit, it doesn't seem budget wise profitable with NBK as hero unless he comes up with a 60 or 70 crores grosser. On top of everything, film business is hit badly by Covid-19 pandemic. Let's wait and watch, hoping for all good things to happen.
