The Chennai High Court will give its final verdict regarding the use of Thalapathy Vijay's 'Mersal' title this Friday on October 6. The apex court had imposed an interim ban on ‘Mersal’ directed by Atlee, prohibiting the use of the title ‘Mersal’ for advertising and promotional purposes till October 3.
With 'Mersal' slated for a Diwali release, both its makers and fans worldwide are eager to see a resolution before the film makes it to the censors. With the high court stating that it will issue its judgement this Friday, it is expected that Vijay’s ‘Mersal’ will get a favourable result.
The ban ordered by the apex court sprung up in the backdrop of a dispute with an another movie titled ‘Mersalaayiten’ produced by A R Rajendran. However, the 'Mersal' makers had earlier sought to remove the ban imposed citing the exorbitant amount of money that had gone into the production of the movie.
