The 2023 edition of the most popular T20 league IPL is officially over. Chennai Super Kings clinched the trophy for the fifth time and became the title winners of the season and Gujarat Titans ended up as the runner-up. IPL 2023 was one of the best seasons and yesterday, we witnessed one o the best-ever final matches in history.
Thala Dhoni, the CSK skipper, wanted to finish the game last night for the fans but got out in his first ball unfortunately. Ravindra Jadeja made sure that the captain is happy by scoring the winning runs in the last two balls. Meanwhile, all eyes were on Mahendra Singh Dhoni because rumours broke out that this will be his last season as a player in IPL.
Harsha Bhogle asked the legendary player about his decision regarding hanging up the boots. Thala Dhoni said, "This is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I have received all over. The easy thing would be to walk away from here, but the harder thing would be working hard for 9 months and try to play another IPL. It would be a gift from me, won't be easy on the body."
"You do get emotional, the first game at CSK everyone was chanting my name. My eyes were full of water, I needed to take some time off in the dugout. I realised I need to enjoy this. I think they love me for what I am, they love that I am so grounded, I don't try to portray something I'm not. Just keep it simple," added MS Dhoni. Fans are on cloud nine after Thala said that he will be working hard to play next year for them.
