After Jada Pinkett Smith's revelation about their seven-year separation, Will Smith has responded to her confession from her upcoming memoir, "Worthy," and his comments may surprise you.

The couple, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who first met on the set of Smith's iconic TV show "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," tied the knot in 1997. Throughout their relationship, they became parents to Jaden, 25, Willow, 22, and Trey, 30, whom Will Smith had during his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino. Although they remain legally married, Jada Pinkett Smith stunned everyone during a preview of an October 2023 primetime interview, where she confessed to living "completely separate lives" from Will Smith since 2016.

When asked what caused their marriage to unravel, Jada Pinkett Smith attributed it to "a lot of things." She explained, "By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted from trying. I think we were both kind of still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be."

Despite their lack of a romantic relationship, she hasn't sought a divorce, saying, "I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through... whatever. I just haven't been able to break that promise."

People have been curious about Will Smith's reaction to Jada Pinkett Smith's separation confession. In an email to The New York Times, Will Smith described how Jada Pinkett Smith's memoir awakened his awareness of their relationship.

"When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life," Will Smith wrote, "a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties."

Will Smith also shared his thoughts on Jada Pinkett Smith's memoir in a letter written for Jay Shetty’s podcast, "On Purpose," where Jada Pinkett Smith recently appeared to discuss her upcoming book. In the episode, Jay Shetty offered to read the letter out loud for her. The letter expressed Will Smith's appreciation and love for her, and Jada Pinkett Smith warmly accepted it. "That’s beautiful," she said. "That’s why I can’t divorce that joker."

Jada Pinkett Smith's memoir, "Worthy," will be available wherever books are sold on Oct. 17.
