With the name Sangeeta, she was always facing the music. She tried everything ---glamour, character roles, different languages and even a new name. But nothing worked.

But when she deglamourized herself for Sivputrudu (Pithamagan in Tamil), things turned for the better.

She just the missed the National Award by a whisker (or so we are told).

And now she is back, out to prove a point to her critics.

In her forthcoming release, Vijayendra Varma, Sangeetha is said to have got a plum role. She also has an author-backed role in the Kannada film Nalla (opposite the young Sudeep).

"Vijayendra Varma is the one that is obviously very big. I am one of the three heroines in the film," she says.

Sangeetha has one grouse against Telugu filmmakers. "They have nothing new to offer," she says.

But she certainly has.
