The shooting of Vijay's much-anticipated film Thalapathy 69, directed by H. Vinoth, is currently underway in Chennai. With cinematography by Sathyan Suryan and music composed by Anirudh, the team plans to resume shooting after Pongal with a song sequence included in the next schedule.

The film stars Pooja Hegde as Vijay's leading lady, marking their collaboration post-Beast. Bollywood actor Bobby Deol, fresh off his role in Animal, plays the antagonist in Thalapathy 69 with a powerful role. The ensemble cast also includes Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Gautham Menon, Naren, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Mamita Baiju.

So far, 40% of the shooting has been completed. Initially, the makers had planned to announce the film's title for New Year. However, with Ajith's Vidaamuyarchi postponing its release, the team felt it inappropriate to celebrate at this time. They now intend to unveil the title during Pongal or Republic Day.

Amid this, rumors have surfaced suggesting comedian-actor Santhanam might join the cast of Thalapathy 69. However, sources close to Santhanam have dismissed these claims, stating he hasn’t been approached for the project.

Currently, Santhanam is focused on completing his film DD Returns 2, which is set on a luxury ship and features his regular team of co-actors like ‘Nizhalgal’ Ravi, ‘Lollu Sabha’ Maran, Kingsley, Muneeskanth, and Saitheena. The shoot, which has taken place in Chennai and Pondicherry, is expected to wrap up by the end of the month. The team plans to announce the film's title during Pongal, with a fresh name rather than sticking to DD Returns 2.

For now, Santhanam’s association with Vijay’s film remains a baseless rumor, with no official confirmation from either side. Fans of both stars will have to wait for concrete updates.
