Seems finding right actors for his 'Shootout At Wadala' is the least of Sanjay Gupta's problems. First and foremost he has to reinvent his own style of direction, courtesy the period setting of the film.

"'Shooutout At Wadala' starts from the late 60s and goes till the 80s when cop encounters had just started making their presence. To make this era look authentic, Sanjay has to leave behind his usual zing-bang-slam-bam style of direction and adapt to a new setting," says a source from the production house.

Another reason why Sanjay would have to re-look at his style is producer Ekta Kapoor's bare minimum requirement when it comes to period films.

"Ekta delayed the release of 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai' till she and her director Milan Luthria got the right mood for that film which was set in the 70s. Milan had to adapt after making overtly stylized films like 'Deewar - Let's Bring Our Heroes Home' or urban contemporary drama 'Taxi No. 9211'. It was this experience that helped him finish 'The Dirty Picture', another period film produced by Ekta, in a jiffy."

Now the baton has been passed on to Sanjay to score a hat trick for Ekta when it comes to period dramas.

"Yes, for starters I have to get rid of those cool looking cars and settle down for Ambassadors," laughs Gupta, "Even guns and other props used would be different Also, I would have to merge my technique with the film's story telling requirement. Ekta and I are on the same page and I am sure she would be thrilled with the results."
