The day of reckoning has come as the biggest release of the year so far gets all set to strike. After 'Dabangg', the only film that was expected to break its opening weekend record was 'Tees Maar Khan'. When this didn't quite happen, it was crystal clear that the only film that could perhaps manage to do that would be 'Ready'. The theatrical promo of this Salman Khan starrer saw good response coming it's way as well while in the process it's songs like 'Character Dheela' and 'Dhinka Chika' have become chartbusters. Anees Bazmee too managed to shrug away the disappointment of 'No Problem' with a decent response to his 'Thank You'.

All of this means that at the least 'Ready' should be a clean hit. Buzz for the film has been good, hype tremendous and timing just perfect. However a word of caution here. There are bound to be comparisons with 'Dabangg', right from the collections to the overall content. On the perspective, let the fact be stated that it would be quite a task for 'Ready' to actually break the opening weekend record of 'Dabangg'. Yes, there is tremendous craze to watch the film but then 'Dabangg' had arrived on Eid and also it had a much more massy appeal with 'Munni Badnaam' much bigger than a 'Character Dheela' or a 'Dhinka Chika'.

Yes, collections would be huge but they are more likely to fall in the bracket of 38-40 crores opening weekend. This means that 40 crores plus that 'Dabangg' had enjoyed for itself on it's opening weekend may just about remain untouched for now at the least. This leads one to the question that whether the makers (Bhushan Kumar and Anees Bazmee) would be much bothered about it? The answer is - 'Definitely not'. Anything in the upwards of 35 crores over the weekend is good enough for 'Ready' since it has two open weeks ahead for itself where it can make merry.

All of this also means that the other release of the week, 'A Strange Love Story', would struggle to get any foot falls whatsoever. With no saleable cast (Riya Sen and debutant Eddie Seth), unknown director duo and zilch publicity, it would be a miracle if this film even manages to find an all-India release for itself and stay in theaters beyond a weekend.
