Will Ranbir's 'Barfi!' turn out to be a game changer?

'Barfi!' is all set for release in the coming weekend and for Anurag Basu, it is back to anxious times two years after the release of 'Kites' [2010]. It is a known fact that even though the Hrithi Roshan starrer hadn't really enjoyed a long run at theatres, it had taken a very good opening at the box office. Now with Ranbir Kapoor as the central protagonist in 'Barfi!', there are expectations of a good opening all over again, what with the film arriving more than a year after his last release 'Rockstar'. Moreover, one also expects that from content perspective, 'Barfi!' may well turn out to be a game changer.
Laughs Anurag, "Well, audience acceptance and box office will tell whether the film turns out to be a game changer or not. Honestly, I don't think on those lines though. I can't be forever thinking about opening and all. I guess my mind's software is such that it doesn't allow me to think numbers. I come from a small town and during my growing up years, it always boiled down to a good movie v/s bad movie. Who thought of collections then? When I make a movie, the only thing that goes in my mind is whether people would like it or not."
What he has also decided is that in years to come, he would make films in a much faster manner compared to couple of years each that he spent in the making of 'Kites' and 'Barfi!' respectively.
"Yes, I have to start doing that", laughs Anurag, "I have a couple of scripts almost locked but I am yet to pencil in which one to pick first. Dono scripts se ishq bhi hua hai aur ab darr bhi lag raha hai ki kaise unhe shape doon. I am not sticking to any particular genre for these films. It would be a mishmash of different genres that you would see next", states Anurag before signing off.
With Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz in principal roles, 'Barfi!' releases all over this Friday.
