A spokesperson of the China Parliament has ruled out allowing same-sex marriages in the country. "Marriage will continue to be a relationship between a man and a woman," he said.
The Communist country has always adopted a conservative stance when it comes to issues like gay marriages. "Same-sex marriage doesn't suit China's conditions, it also goes against the country's historical and cultural traditions," the spokesperson added.
Reports say that there has been a growing number of same-sex relationships in China. Although a same-sex relationship is not illegal, marriage is disallowed. This has caused much concern in the LGBTQ community in the most populous country.
