T Raja Singh, the BJP MLA of Goshamal, Hyderabad, has said that theatres playing 'Padmavati' will be burnt down! "If the movie is released and shown to be against (Rani) Padmavati, then we will put fire to those theatres. What will happen we will see later," he has warned.

In the below video, the 39-year-old MLA, is seen making the controversial statement.

Certain Kashatriya/Rajput groups have been alleging that 'Padmavati', a historical telling the story of Rani Padmavat and Islamic invader Alauddin Khilji, has distorted facts.

There are reports that the film's release could be put off till the completion of the elections in Gujarat. Distributors are hopeful that the issue will be resolved in the coming weeks.
