Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin and Anurag Kashyap`s estranged wife is going gaga after watching Kashyap`s BOMBAY VELVET.
She is so overwhelmed by the movie that she has predicted that the movie will attain the Classic Status` like MUGHAL-E-AZAM, MOTHER INDIA, AWARA,PAKEEZAH, SHOLAY, DEEWAAR etc. in years to come.
Other from Bollywood who have watched the movie at a special screening arranged by Anurag Kashyap, are also in awe of the movie, particularly the amazing chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma and the authentic backdrop of the Mumbai`s 60`s look created so meticulously by the director Anurag Kashyap.
Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the protagonist in the film says that Anurag has made no compromise on production values and has given his hundred percent to the movie to make it as outstanding as possible. He also credits the movie as his best performances till date.
According to Anurag he has ensured that everything in the film is in sync with the 1960s for that matter he had imported guns from Germany, bullets from Turkey and the motion controller and blood capsules used in the film from Britain.
In addition to this few are aware that Anurag had started the film in 2004 when historian Gyan Prakash, on whose book Mumbai Fables` the movie is based, first met him.
Gyan says, "I had been researching the city for about four years for my book Mumbai Fables`. However when my friend heard the plot he suggested me to meet Anurag Kashyap, who was bowled over by the script and commissioned me to complete it into a film script. Since then I am waiting to see the film on screen."
Anurag Kashyap`s dream project that was sowed in 2004 will thus finally see the light of the day on May 15, this Friday!
Looking at the efforts and the time taken to complete the film, it surely appears that movie is in tune with earlier classics like K.Asif`s MUGHAL-E-AZAM, which took 16 years in making and Kamal Amrohi`s magnum opus PAKEEZAH that took 14 years.
But the million dollar question is - Will Anurag Kashyap's BOMBAY VELVET, which has been into making since 11 years like the mentioned classic live up to the expectation of the cine buffs?
