Why waste people's money in providing electricity, Rahul asks Modi

Continuing his ‘one question per day’ practice leading up to the Gujarat Assembly polls to be held in two phases on 09th and 14th December, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explain why people’s money is wasted in the name of distributing electricity to people.

“What is the need to procure electricity from private firms at a high cost, thus wasting people’s money,” Rahul asks. “Why the capacity of State electricity-producing Units has been down-graded and what is the need to procure electricity @ Rs.24/- per unit from private manufacturers?  Why public money is being wasted and why Rs.24 per unit is spent instead of Rs.3 per unit?” Rahul asked.

“Gujarat wants questions to these answers from the BJP which has ruled for 22 years on the trot,” he said. It may be recalled that Rahul had earlier said that Gujarat and its people should not be made to ‘pay the price’ for the Centre’s overall financial mismanagement and for Modi’s self-boasting election campaigns.

“Modi had earlier promised that he would build 50 lakh houses but has build only 4.72 lakhs houses so far and I wonder whether he would take 45 more years to build the remaining 45.28 lakh houses,” Rahul ridiculed.
