Why did Vijayendra Prasad name his up-and-coming film as Rajanna when the protagonist's role is inspired by the legend of Hanumanthu? Well, there is a reason why it has been so titled.

The veteran director has been a lover of historical narratives, stories and such legends. He is almost obsessed about the life stories of kings. The very name of 'raja' is dear to his heart. This is the reason why he named his son as Rajamouli.

This explains why he changed the name of his hero from Hanumanthu to Rajanna. Next time when you read that Rajanna is about the heroic deeds of Hanumanthu, the tribal leader, do not get confused.

The movie will release amidst high expectations. For Nag as well as its director, Rajanna is an acid test because they are trying a new genre - period film. It may be noted that not only have period films been very few and far between since the last decade, but also the success rate of such films in Tollywood has been low.

Rajanna, it is hoped, will become an exception.
