Decades ago, K-town took pride in the epic narrative of AP Nagarajan, which portrayed the conflict between three prime Goddesses, competing with one another on their respective prowess. Titled 'Saraswathi Sabatham', starring many leading actors of that age, it was one of the most successful movies in 1966. But what has led director Chandru to name his Jai-Nivedha Thomas starrer, 'Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham'? The director says it is the very blockbuster of 1966 which introduces a new dimension into the story, justifying the name. A group of four men set out to Bangkok for a bachelor's party and land themselves in serious trouble. It is a scene that they recollect from the yesteryear epic movie which helps them sort out the mess and get out of it.
So is it anything like 'Saraswathi Sabatham' original? "Certainly not" says the director, who also adds that it is nothing like 'Hangover' either, though the plot may sound similar. Produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh and Kalpathi S Suresh for AGS Entertainment, and also starring Sathyan, Rajkumar and VTV Ganesh, apart from Jai and Nivedha Thomas in the lead, 'Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham' is to hit the screens this Friday.
