Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, in a sly tweet, described Modi as a dictator. Without mentioning the Prime Minister's name, the former President of the Congress party listed out the names of several dictators whose names begin with the letter 'M'.
"Why do so many dictators have names that begin with M? Marcos, Mussolini, Milošević, Mubarak, Mobutu, Musharraf, Micombero (sic)," RaGa tweeted.
The BJP has started countering him. A functionary of the ruling party Kuljeet Singh Chahal wrote, "Agreed Manmohan Singh ji was not a Dictator, but he was DICTATED by another M, Madam MAINO. What You Say ??" Maino is the original Italian name of Sonia Gandhi.
Columnist Abhijit Iyer-Mitra accused the Congress party of looking up to Mao. "I know why you left out Maino (family) & Mamata (ally) but why did you leave out Mao (paymaster?)," he tweeted with a touch of biting sarcasm.
Filmmaker Manish Mundra said that RaGa has run out of debatable points. "If this man has some sense he should stop parading himself as a leader of the Indian Opposition. Seriously, this is the level of discourse and debatable points this man has? When will India get a credible Opposition Leader who is ready to work hard and create meaningful issues," he tweeted.
