Actress Jayachitra made her debut in the film Mattukkara Velan. She has acted in numerous successful films in both Tamil and Telugu, playing lead and character roles. She has been honored with the Kalaimamani award by the Tamil Nadu government.
In an interview with IndiaGlitz Classic viewers, Kalaimamani award-winning actress Jayachitra spoke about Nadigaiyar Thilagam Savitri and the biopic of Savitri, starring Keerthy Suresh.
During the interview, she said:
'Savitri Amma was truly Nadigaiyar Thilagam (The Greatest Actress). Her beauty, acting, and dialogue delivery are all praiseworthy.
In the film Paasamalar, she played the role of a sister. In the song "Malarndum Malaradha," there's a scene where she cries without using glycerin.
In Kandan Karunai, the song "Solla Solla Inikkudhada" makes you wonder if it's her or Janaki Amma singing.
In Saraswathi Sabatham, she even acted as the goddess Saraswathi herself.
The director has truly brought out Savitri Amma’s essence in the biopic. Keerthy Suresh has played the role of Savitri Amma, and that girl has done justice to her name. In two moments in the film, it felt as if Savitri Amma herself was on screen.
Everyone else was so alert and careful. But Amma, why weren't you? Why did you choose alcohol as your companion in life? You could have chosen a life partner. You lived alone. Your life could have been an example to so many.
The impact of watching the movie stayed with me for two days. Now I am at peace, but I feel like I'm still talking to you, Amma.
What happened in Savitri Amma's life, they have shown it in the film.'
This is what she said in the interview.
