For days the beautiful Deepika Padukone had been arm candy of Badshah Shah Rukh Khan; consistently by his side during the promotions of ‘Chennai Express’. But yeh kya... During the grand occasion when King Khan celebrated Eid in a starry affair, inviting who’s who of the industry and social circles, Deepika was inconspicuous of her absence.

While this might look weird we found out that it had been nothing Deepika’s work commitment which made the actress to stay away from the occasion.

Confirmed an insider close to Deepika, "Deepika had a prior commitment to shoot for an ad in Milan. The shoot had been planned four months ago. Despite her keenness to attend Shah Rukh’s party, it was always known that she wouldn’t be able to make it. She had informed him about the same."

As a matter of fact, the trip couldn’t be postponed as immediately after her return, Deepika needs to wrap up Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela and move on to the first schedule of Happy New Year (also co-starring SRK). She also has Homi Adajania’s Finding Fanny Fernandes to shoot for. "This is the only small window that Deepika saw in the middle of her cramped shooting schedule. So she couldn’t have shifted it," added the insider.

For the past few months, Deepika has remained busy with back-to-back shoots and promotions for films like ‘Race 2’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’.

Just before leaving for Milan, the actor followed a tradition she has always sworn by. Being an avid devotee of Lord Ganesha, she paid a visit to the Siddhivinayak Temple amidst tight security. Despite repeated attempts, Deepika couldn’t be reached for a comment in Milan.
